Mumbai, July 30: Renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam has disclosed that he has removed social media applications from his mobile device, citing them as a source of distraction.

On Thursday, the artist shared two videos on his Instagram account to express his gratitude on his birthday. He mentioned that he is unaware of the happenings on social media and will not be able to respond to birthday wishes from fans due to his decision to stop using these platforms on his phone.

He stated, “I forgot to mention that I don’t have Instagram and Facebook apps on my phone. It’s been over a year since I deleted them because I realized I was wasting too much time. I decided last year that I didn’t need to know what others think or say, or what’s happening in the world. I believe I’m at a stage in my life where I should focus on my health and personal growth.”

“I don’t want to know what people think about me or what they say. I’m in a state of surrender and have connected with God. I feel very content. So, if you’re sending me birthday wishes, thank you! They may reach me, but I won’t be able to reply since I don’t have the apps. I generally stay informed, but I can’t respond directly. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your love,” he added.
