Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's New Property Acquisitions

In 2023, actress Sonam Kapoor and her spouse, businessman Anand Ahuja, made headlines by acquiring a historic mansion in Notting Hill, London, for £21 million (approximately ₹270 crore). Recent reports from British media indicate that the couple has also acquired additional flats in a nearby building, a decision that has upset local residents. Allegations have surfaced that Sonam and Anand purchased five flats in their block for £4 million (around ₹51 crore) with intentions to convert them into 'servants' quarters'. Additionally, they have acquired garages in the block, which are currently being utilized for storage.

Local Residents Oppose Sonam and Anand's Property Plans

As reported by the Daily Mail, residents of Hillcrest, where the couple has bought the five flats, are voicing their concerns about the potential transformation of their block into accommodations for staff. The garage, also purchased by a firm acting on behalf of the couple, may serve as a space for their car collection. When Sonam and Anand first arrived in the neighborhood in 2023, they undertook extensive renovations on their mansion, including the addition of a basement swimming pool and a subterranean basketball court. Initially, their renovation plans faced no opposition, but now, other residents are expressing discontent regarding the couple's growing influence in the block, which consists of only 23 flats.

Residents at Hillcrest have raised concerns that if they lodge complaints, the flats could be repurposed for 'social housing'. Some neighbors have noted that the flats are currently unoccupied but are undergoing renovations. In addition to their mansion, Sonam and Anand possess properties in Delhi and Mumbai, along with a flat and studio in Notting Hill that was showcased in an Architectural Digest feature. However, a representative for the couple clarified that Sonam was not directly involved in the flat purchases, which were made solely for investment purposes.

Welcoming Their Second Child

Since the arrival of their second son, Rudralokh Kapoor Ahuja, on March 29, 2026, Sonam and Anand have been enjoying family time in India. Their first son, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja, was born on August 20, 2022. The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Sikh ceremony in Mumbai in 2018, attended by numerous celebrities from the film industry. Sonam's latest appearance was in the thriller Blind, which premiered directly on OTT platforms in June 2023.
