Sonali Kulkarni's New Venture

Sonali Kulkarni, renowned for her role in Dil Chahta Hai, is expanding her horizons beyond acting. She has recently ventured into the world of podcasting with her show, Half Ticket Full Nagrik. In a special interview during the podcast's promotion, Sonali opened up about her early life and the motivation behind her focus on projects for children. Despite her diverse career, she has always had a passion for initiatives aimed at kids. Notably, she previously worked as a dance instructor for children with special needs.

Sonali's Journey as a Dance Teacher

In an exclusive chat, Sonali revealed, "Before I became an actress, I taught dance at a school named Bal Kalyan. Coming from a modest background, I didn't have pocket money, so I worked there to earn some. I hail from Pune, and the school catered to many special children."

She expressed how teaching differently-abled children has profoundly influenced her. "It was fascinating to teach them and witness their resilience despite their challenges. They live joyfully and innocently, which makes you reflect on your own life," she shared.

Sonali also discussed her experiences with child actors, noting how she missed them until her daughter Kaveri was born. "After filming, they would go home, and I would feel a sense of loss. Acting can be emotionally taxing, and when they leave, it feels like a goodbye. Becoming a mother opened my eyes to the overlooked issues surrounding children," she explained.

Advocating for Children's Voices

Continuing her thoughts, Sonali pointed out that parents often harbor fears and insecurities, while children lack a voice. "Kids are often taken for granted. We frequently highlight the exhaustion of young mothers, which made me more aware of my surroundings. It prompted me to pay attention to the issues affecting children," she stated.

This realization led her to create a podcast that features children's perspectives. On the professional front, she is set to appear in upcoming projects like The Paradise and The Wives.
