Sitaare Zameen Par to Premiere on SonyLIV


After a wait of nine months, the film Sitaare Zameen Par is finally making its way to a streaming service. Directed by RS Prasanna, this Hindi film serves as a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Taare Zameen Par (2007), which starred Aamir Khan. Nearly twenty years later, Khan returns with another poignant narrative that encourages viewers to see life from a different perspective. The film is set to debut on SonyLIV, marking it as the first Hindi film to launch on this platform. Initially, Aamir had stated that the film would not be available for streaming, but it was later offered on YouTube through a pay-per-view model in India and internationally.


Sitaare Zameen Par's Journey


SonyLIV recently unveiled the trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par on Instagram, highlighting the story of a short basketball coach and his team of ten spirited players. This film is an official adaptation of the Spanish movie Champions (2018). Aamir Khan portrays Gulshan Arora, a disgraced coach sentenced to community service, who must guide a team of young athletes with disabilities to compete in a tournament. As he trains these neurodivergent players, he discovers that they have valuable lessons to impart to him as well.



The cast also includes Genelia Deshmukh, Ashish Pendse, Aroush Datta, Aayush Bhansali, Rishi Shahani, Gopikrishnan K Varma, Rishabh Jain, Vedant Sharma, Simran Mangeshkar, Samvit Desai, and Naman Misra. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions, with B. Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka as co-producers, the screenplay is penned by Divy Nidhi Sharma.

Director RS Prasanna, known for his successful films Kalyana Samayal Saadham and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, turned down multiple Tamil film offers to focus on this sports drama featuring Aamir in the lead role. The film took approximately three years to complete and hit theaters. With a production budget of Rs 122 crore, Sitaare Zameen Par grossed over Rs 266.49 crore globally, becoming Aamir's highest-grossing film since Dangal in 2016. During promotional activities, Aamir urged audiences to support the film in theaters and spoke against piracy. Following its theatrical run, the film became available on YouTube starting August 1, 2025, for Rs 100 in India and various international markets, including the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Spain, with local pricing adjustments.
