Production Issues for Arasan Starring Silambarasan TR
The highly anticipated film Arasan, featuring Silambarasan TR and directed by Vetrimaaran, has encountered an unforeseen setback. The filming has been suspended due to a conflict between the actor and producer Ishari K Ganesh regarding a previous project that was never realized. This dispute has escalated, drawing the attention of various film industry organizations. T Rajendar, the actor-director and father of Silambarasan, has intervened, expressing concerns about fairness and advocating for a resolution to the ongoing issue affecting the film.
Filming of Arasan Stopped Following Complaint by Ishari K Ganesh
The conflict originates from a film that was supposed to follow Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu but ultimately did not materialize. Reports indicate that Silambarasan was given an advance of ₹5 crore for this unrealized project. However, the lack of progress and subsequent delays have led to rising tensions between the actor and the producer, with both parties exchanging blame for the project's failure. This unresolved matter has now adversely affected the production of Arasan. As the situation intensified, major film organizations like the Nadigar Sangam and the Film Employees Federation of South India stepped in, resulting in the suspension of the film's shooting.
T Rajendar has publicly questioned the decision to halt production, emphasizing the need for fairness in the process. He clarified that he is not defending the film directly but is advocating for justice and proper procedures. He mentioned that he had previously supported his son in court during the dispute with Ishari K Ganesh, where the ruling was reportedly in favor of Silambarasan. T Rajendar asserted that the advance paid for the film is legally recognized as belonging to the actor. He has called on organizations like the South Indian Artistes Association to assist in resolving the issue amicably and plans to address the media shortly.
Silambarasan TR's History of Industry Challenges
This is not the first instance where Silambarasan TR has encountered difficulties with industry organizations. Previously, he received a “red card” from the Tamil Film Producers Council due to allegations of non-cooperation concerning films such as Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan and a Tamil remake of Mufti. The ban was eventually lifted after disputes were settled, allowing him to star in successful projects like Maanaadu and Pathu Thala.
Directed by Vetrimaaran, Arasan boasts a talented cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, with Vikranth and Kamalesh Jagan also part of the ensemble. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, the film is expected to star Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
