Shriya Pilgaonkar Returns to Mirzapur

Mumbai: Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar has announced the return of her character, Sweety Gupta, from the first season of Mirzapur, as she is currently filming the movie adaptation of the acclaimed crime thriller series.

Shriya shared her excitement on Instagram, posting two images: one featuring the film's clapboard and another showcasing a group shot with co-stars like Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Divyenndu, Pankaj Tripathi, and Rasika Dugal.

In her post, she wrote: "8 years later... guess who’s back from the dead. MIRZAPUR - THE FILM. Currently filming. Jald hi milenge..."

For those unfamiliar, Sweety's character met a tragic end at her wedding, killed by Munna Bhaiyya, despite being pregnant, during the first season.

The storyline of Mirzapur revolves around Akhandanand "Kaleen" Tripathi, a crime lord and businessman who dominates the Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The first season featured a stellar cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

In the second season, the original cast returned, minus Vikrant and Shriya, while new faces like Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anangsha Biswas, and Neha Sargam joined.

Shriya is also set to appear in the film Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. This film began production in August and marks the long-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 18 years, following their last collaboration in the film Tashan, which was not well-received.

Shriya made her acting debut in the Marathi film Ekulti Ek in 2013, earning the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Debut.

After her Hindi film debut in Fan, she gained recognition through successful web series such as Mirzapur, Guilty Minds, The Broken News, and Taaza Khabar, along with her role in the film Ishq-e-Nadaan.
