Controversy Surrounding Eetha

What Is Eetha Controversy?

Returning to her film Eetha, which is inspired by the life of renowned Tamasha/Lavani dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, the teaser has garnered positive feedback online. However, the Maharashtra unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Film and Cultural Department has formally requested the filmmakers to change the title, arguing that a biopic should include the actual name of the subject. The family of the late artist has also expressed their desire for Vithabai's name to be included in the title.

NCP leader Babasaheb Patil has sent letters to both director Laxman Utekar and Maddock Films, urging them to consider renaming the film to either Vitha or Vithabai. As of now, the filmmakers have not made a decision regarding these requests.
