Shivarajkumar Discusses His Health Struggles During Peddi's Production
Shivarajkumar, the renowned Kannada actor, recently shared insights into a challenging period he faced while working on Ram Charan's upcoming film, Peddi. During a promotional event, he expressed his initial excitement about the script, which led him to eagerly accept the role after hearing the narration from director Buchi Babu Sana. However, shortly after his commitment, he encountered a serious health issue.
In Peddi, Shivarajkumar plays the pivotal character Gournaidu, a role that embodies strength and authority in this sports drama that delves into themes of identity and empowerment. The film also features Jahnvi Kapoor and boasts a soundtrack by the acclaimed AR Rahman.
Shivarajkumar's Near Departure from Peddi
At the promotional event, Shivarajkumar recounted an emotional backstory regarding his participation in Peddi. He revealed that he was deeply engaged with the narrative when it was presented to him by director Buchi Babu Sana. So enthusiastic was he about the project that he discussed it with Ram Charan on the same day he heard the script.
However, shortly after committing to the film, Shivarajkumar received a cancer diagnosis, necessitating travel to the United States for treatment. This situation cast doubt on his ability to fulfill his professional obligations. During this tough time, he contemplated withdrawing from Peddi due to the unpredictability surrounding his health and recovery.
Despite the uncertainties, the team behind Peddi opted to wait for Shivarajkumar rather than recasting his role. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to director Buchi Babu Sana and the production crew for their understanding and support throughout his recovery. The filmmaker assured him that they were willing to adjust filming schedules to accommodate his return.
Ticket Price Increase for Peddi's Premiere
As the release of Peddi approaches, the film has gained significant momentum, with the Andhra Pradesh government granting approval for premiere shows starting June 3. In addition to the early screenings, a temporary increase in ticket prices has been authorized, further enhancing the film's anticipation. Meanwhile, Telangana has yet to announce its stance on similar arrangements.
The premiere screenings are set to commence at 8 PM on June 3 in Andhra Pradesh. The government has established a ticket price of Rs 600 for these premiere shows, inclusive of GST. Furthermore, a temporary price increase of Rs 100 for single-screen theaters and Rs 125 for multiplexes has been approved for the initial run.
