Shivam Khajuria Discusses His Role in Anupamaa and Comparisons to Anuj Kapadia

Anupamaa: A Popular Indian Television Show

Currently, Anupamaa stands out as one of the most viewed series on Indian television. Featuring Rupali Ganguly, Shivam Khajuria, and Adrija Roy in pivotal roles, this Rajan Shahi production consistently achieves impressive TRP ratings. The recent storyline twist, where Anupama travels to Delhi to support Devika’s daughter, has taken viewers by surprise. Meanwhile, Prem and Raahi are depicted working in separate companies, with Shivam's character, Prem, gaining significant popularity among fans. Some viewers have even drawn parallels between him and Gaurav Khanna’s beloved character, Anuj Kapadia. In a recent exclusive interview with Zoom/Telly Talk India, Shivam shared his thoughts on this comparison.

Shivam Khajuria's Thoughts on Comparisons with Anuj Kapadia

Shivam Khajuria Reacts To Prem’s Comparison With Anuj Kapadia

During our conversation, Shivam expressed his delight over the comparisons made between his character, Prem, and Anuj Kapadia. Anuj is known for his affectionate nature towards Anupama (played by Rupali Ganguly), and Shivam noted that Prem shares a similar dynamic with Raahi (Adrija Roy). He remarked, “Absolutely. Gaurav ji brought his character to life beautifully; it makes me happy when people see similarities between Prem and Anuj. Prem has deep feelings for Raahi. However, I’m not aware of what’s coming up in future episodes as I haven’t seen Anuj's scenes.”

Shivam further elaborated, “Prem is devoted to Raahi. He does everything for her. Even when Raahi makes mistakes, he may scold her, but his love always prevails. Raahi is his safe haven. Although their love remains intact after the leap, the way they express it has changed.”

Concerns About Typecasting

Is Shivam Khajuria Worried About Being Typecast?

In the storyline, following the leap, Prem and Raahi are tasked with caring for their late sister Prarthana’s daughter, Pranshi. When asked if he fears being typecast, Shivam responded, “During my acting training, I learned that an actor's age is not a limitation. If I’m asked to play an older character, I will embrace that role to ensure it resonates on screen. The leaps in the story don’t alter the essence of the character. Prem has matured emotionally. An actor can only be typecast if they don’t push their boundaries.”

Returning to Anupamaa, the cast also includes Rahil Azm, Alka Kaushal, Zalak Doshi, Alpana Buch, Arvind Vaidya, Ishita Dixit, Manish Naggdev, Miloni Kapadia, among others in significant roles.
