Reflecting on the popularity of the track, Shashwat stated, "FA9LA was an instinctive choice for Aditya from the start, and he was fully convinced of its potential. We initially considered reinterpreting the song for the film, but I believed the original had an authenticity that was hard to replicate. My instinct was to license it as is, preserving what audiences already cherished about it."
He further explained that they made some adjustments to certain sections to enhance the cinematic feel of the song within the film. However, he emphasized that FA9LA was always intended to be part of Dhurandhar. "Did we foresee the overwhelming response? We knew the song fit perfectly within this universe, but no one can truly predict the internet's reaction. You can create the spark, but it's the audience that determines if it ignites into a fire," he added.
Shashwat on Comparisons with Sher-e-Baloch
When asked about potential comparisons between the Dhurandhar 2 song Sher-e-Baloch and FA9LA, Shashwat expressed his thoughts on avoiding the notion of replacement. "We never viewed Sher-e-Baloch, FA9LA, or Didi as competitors. The idea of replacement is a commercial perspective on music; storytelling is inherently more organic. We were responding to the visuals, characters, and emotional significance of each moment," he explained.
In conclusion, Shashwat remarked, "Everyone was simply focused on playing their roles authentically and enhancing the beauty of that particular scene. I truly believe that beautiful creations do not seek attention; they do not need to overshadow something else to hold value. When each element has a genuine reason for existence, comparisons become a topic for the audience, not a burden for the artist."
