On June 30, reports emerged claiming that Shahid Kapoor had agreed to join Adal Badal for a fee of Rs 18 crore, with additional backend profits if the film succeeded. It was also mentioned that he would star alongside Janhvi Kapoor in this project produced by Sunir Kheterpal in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. However, a report from Filmfare has clarified that Shahid's involvement is merely a rumor, stating, "Any speculation regarding his casting in the film is entirely incorrect." The film is expected to begin shooting in October and will explore a storyline centered around soul swapping. Amit Ravindranath Sharma gained recognition for his successful film Badhaai Ho, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, and Gajraj Rao. He also directed a segment in the Netflix anthology Lust Stories 2 in 2023 and the sports biopic Maidaan, which was released in theaters in April 2024.
