The Reality Behind Bodyguard Salaries

Shah Rukh Khan, a prominent figure in the film industry, is known for his immense wealth and fame. Alongside him, Salman Khan also ranks among the top earners in Bollywood. Due to their celebrity status, both actors are often seen in public accompanied by extensive security. Salman relies on his bodyguard Shera for protection, while Shah Rukh is currently under the watch of his bodyguard Ravi. Recent reports suggested that these bodyguards earn between Rs 2 to 2.5 crore annually, translating to monthly salaries of Rs 8 to 10 lakh. However, these claims have been debunked. Yaseen Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s former bodyguard who has since established his own security firm, has clarified the misconceptions surrounding bodyguard salaries.

Yaseen Khan Addresses Salary Myths

In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Yaseen Khan stated that the figures circulating about bodyguard salaries are exaggerated. He remarked, “I doubt they earn that much annually. If a celebrity compensates them based on personal agreements, that’s a different scenario. But standard salaries are not that high. Who pays Rs 8–10 lakh monthly?” Yaseen emphasized that social media often misrepresents the earnings of bodyguards. He explained that those working for major stars typically receive a fixed salary, and when a star is filming, a separate contract is arranged, with producers compensating the security personnel for their services during the shoot.

Yaseen's Advocacy for Fair Pay

Yaseen further disclosed that bodyguards often do not receive payment for their time spent on set. Unlike drivers, makeup artists, and spot boys who are compensated by producers, bodyguards struggle to make a living. He took the initiative to speak with producers about establishing contracts for bodyguards. During this time, he also communicated with Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh's wife, about the need for fair compensation for security personnel during shoots. She was receptive to his concerns, leading to gradual improvements in the payment structure for bodyguards.

Yaseen Khan’s insights have surprised many, shedding light on the challenges faced by bodyguards in the entertainment industry.
