SEVENTEEN has announced the formation of a new subunit, V8, featuring members Vernon and The8. V8: Vernon and The8's Dynamic Duo
PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed on May 28 that Vernon and The8 will debut their subunit V8, with their first album set to drop on June 29. The name V8 cleverly merges Vernon’s initial 'V' with The8’s number '8', symbolizing the energy and power akin to a V8 engine. The agency highlighted that the concept showcases the duo's strong chemistry, dynamic energy, and high-octane performance style.
In anticipation of their debut, Vernon and The8 have engaged fans through the V8 HUNT promotional campaign, which invites fans to find and share images of the letters V8 in their daily lives. Following the album launch, V8 will embark on a concert tour starting in July, with performances scheduled in Goyang, South Korea, on July 11 and 12, followed by concerts in Hong Kong on July 18 and 19. Additional tour dates are expected to be revealed soon.
SEVENTEEN's Expanding Subunit Family
SEVENTEEN consists of thirteen members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Remarkably, the group has maintained its lineup since debuting in 2015, with no members leaving. V8 joins the ranks of SEVENTEEN's successful subunits, including BSS, which debuted in 2018 and made a comeback in 2023 with the hit album Second Wind. Their track Fighting, featuring Lee Young-ji, achieved significant chart success and earned the trio their first music show win.
SEVENTEEN has introduced several other popular subunits, such as Jeonghan X Wonwoo in 2024, Hoshi X Woozi in 2025, and CxM featuring S.Coups and Mingyu in 2025. Earlier this year, DK X Seungkwan also formed a subunit. With the addition of V8, SEVENTEEN now boasts five subunits, a testament to their versatility as a thirteen-member group.
