In this film, Chalamet and Gomez will lend their voices to two unlikely friends who embark on an intergalactic journey filled with cute aliens, innovative technology, and unexpected romance. Timothee Chalamet and Selena Gomez are officially collaborating for Illumination’s animated feature Not Alone. This film marks Chalamet’s first significant role in voice acting, while Gomez returns to the animation scene after her previous work in successful projects like Hotel Transylvania. Chalamet voices Joe, a reserved rocket mechanic leading a solitary existence, while Gomez portrays Fran, a talented astro-botanist developing the first plant-powered rocket. Their paths cross as they prepare for the launch of this groundbreaking spacecraft, leading to an unexpected bond.

According to the film's synopsis, neither Joe nor Fran is adept at romance. However, their lives take a surprising turn when three small aliens—Dunk, Welly, and Shirm—seek shelter in Joe’s home, escaping from Officer Zandro, a well-meaning but bumbling law enforcement officer. The aliens soon discover that Fran’s rocket might be their only hope for a safe return home, setting the stage for a blend of science fiction, humor, and heartfelt storytelling. Interestingly, this is not the first collaboration between Selena and Timothee; they previously appeared together in Woody Allen's film A Rainy Day in New York, alongside Elle Fanning and Jude Law.
