Sarah Michelle Gellar and Co-Stars Honor Anthony Head's Legacy
Tributes Pour in for Anthony Head
Sarah Michelle Gellar is grieving the loss of another beloved friend from her iconic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Following her tributes to Michelle Trachtenberg, who portrayed her sister Dawn, and Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander, Gellar now faces the passing of Anthony Head. Head, who died on June 5, succumbed to pneumonia complications, just six months after the death of his partner. His daughters, Emily and Daisy, shared the news with the BBC, prompting heartfelt tributes from Gellar and her fellow cast members, as well as actors from Ted Lasso.
Gellar Reflects on Head's Impact
In a touching Instagram tribute, Gellar quoted a line from Buffy: "Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok." She expressed that, unlike her character, she was still struggling and not okay, but felt fortunate to have known Head. Gellar thanked Daisy and Emily for sharing their father with her and the world.
Eliza Dushku, who played Faith, referred to Head as a "dear one," expressing gratitude for every moment shared. James Marsters, known for his role as Spike, praised Head as a consistently kind presence on set and the finest actor among them. David Boreanaz, who portrayed Angel, remembered Head as a brother, emphasizing his laughter and smile.
Other cast members, including Charisma Carpenter and Emma Caulfield, also shared their sorrow. Carpenter noted how fans cherished Head's portrayal of Giles, who served as a father figure, while Caulfield described him as a "kind and wise guide in troubled times."
Tributes from Ted Lasso Stars
Head's role in the acclaimed series Ted Lasso as Rupert Mannion also drew tributes. Brett Goldstein, who stars as Roy Kent, acknowledged Head's remarkable talent in portraying a character that was both despicable and likable. He expressed his admiration for Head's skills and sent love to his family.
Jeremy Swift, who plays Leslie Higgins, shared a smiling photo of them together on Instagram, writing, “Goodbye Tony, we adored you. Rest in Peace, my friend.”
