In May 2025, newlyweds Raja Raghuvanshi (29) and Sonam Raghuvanshi (25) traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, but their trip took a tragic turn when they vanished from Cherrapunji. Authorities launched an investigation, and after following various leads, Raja's decomposed body was discovered on June 2, 2025. A Special Investigation Team was established by the Meghalaya police to delve into the case. Initially considered an accident or abduction, it was later uncovered that Sonam had orchestrated her husband's murder, hiring contract killers to execute the crime during their honeymoon. One of the alleged accomplices was her rumored boyfriend, Raj Singh Kushwaha, who was employed at her brother's company in Madhya Pradesh.
