Actor Sanjay Dutt has recently addressed rumors connecting him to a Pune nightclub that is currently facing legal scrutiny from the Bombay High Court due to allegations of unauthorized use of copyrighted music. This establishment, situated in Kalyani Nagar, has encountered legal challenges after it was claimed that songs from Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) India’s catalog were being played without the required licenses. Court documents revealed that although the nightclub had previously held a music license from PPL, that authorization had lapsed and was not renewed.
During a recent inspection by a PPL representative, a variety of popular Bollywood and international tracks were discovered being played at the venue. These included hits like "Badtameez Dil," "Dard-e-Disco," and "Mauja Hi Mauja," along with global favorites such as Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean" and Dua Lipa's "Levitating." In response to these findings, the Bombay High Court has instructed the nightclub to cease public performances of music from PPL’s catalog until the necessary performance licenses are secured.
In light of the unfolding situation, Sanjay Dutt took to Instagram to clarify his stance regarding the nightclub. He emphasized, "I would like to clarify that I am not associated with the club in any capacity," directly countering earlier reports that suggested a link between him, the nightclub, and businessman Hiram Shelke. This clarification is crucial as it formally distances Dutt from the ongoing legal matters concerning the venue.
Meanwhile, PPL India has expressed its commitment to pursuing action against instances of commercial use of copyrighted music without appropriate permissions. Despite the ongoing copyright challenges, Sanjay Dutt continues to be active in his acting career, having recently appeared in the Saudi Arabian film "Seven Dogs," and is anticipated to star in upcoming projects such as "Bap" and "Khalnayak Returns." His recent statement has effectively quelled speculation regarding his involvement with the nightclub.
