Salman Khan's Legal Dispute Over 'Kala Hiran' Intensifies
Salman Khan Takes Legal Action Against 'Kala Hiran'
The ongoing legal conflict between Salman Khan and the creators of 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy' has escalated. After the unveiling of the film's initial look and poster, Salman Khan filed a petition with the Delhi High Court, alleging infringement of his 'personality rights' and requesting a halt to the film's progress. In response, the film's director, Bharat S. Srinathe, has publicly criticized Salman Khan, asserting that he is not 'God.' He also addressed statements made by Govind Namdev.
Director's Response to Legal Notice
In an exclusive interview with a Media House, Bharat S. Srinathe expressed his frustration over the legal notice issued by Salman Khan and his choice to pursue legal action. He remarked, "Salman Khan is not God. He is not my godfather. He cannot stop me. He can neither destroy nor build my career."
Advice to Salman Khan
‘Watch the film first, then draw conclusions’
Bharat S. Srinathe emphasized that the film was crafted after extensive research and the dedication of the entire team. He expressed disappointment over the sudden legal notice aimed at halting the film's release, advising Salman Khan to view the film before forming any opinions.
Controversial Bracelet
Is the bracelet patented?
In the film's first look, lead actor Kasif Iqbal Khan portrays a character named ‘Ayaan Khan,’ who is seen wearing a turquoise bracelet that Salman Khan is known for. In response to the controversy, the director stated, "That bracelet is not a patented accessory. If Salman believes that only he should wear it, he should patent it so that it cannot be found anywhere else in the world."
Actor's Natural Resemblance
‘My actor’s face is natural’
Addressing the resemblance between Kasif Iqbal Khan and Salman Khan, Bharat cited Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s portrayal of Bal Thackeray in a film, which used prosthetics. He clarified, "Nawaz was given a look resembling Bal Thackeray using prosthetics. However, we haven't used any prosthetics in our film. Our actor's face naturally resembles Salman's; I cannot alter his appearance."
Salman Khan's Court Petition
Salman Khan moves Delhi High Court; what did he seek?
Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an immediate injunction against the film's promotion, production, and release. In his petition, he claimed that the film infringes upon his personality rights. Salman’s lawyer informed the court that the film's poster, released on May 29, features a character resembling Salman wearing the signature bracelet. The petition also highlighted that the character is depicted with a weapon, despite Salman being acquitted in an Arms Act case. Salman asserted that the promotional materials make a "clear and direct reference" to him and noted that the film is based on events related to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which are currently under judicial review. Notably, the Delhi High Court had previously issued an order on November 11, 2025, safeguarding Salman Khan's personality rights, and he had sent a legal notice to the filmmakers on April 24, 2026.
Court's Response
What did the court say?
The vacation bench of the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the filmmakers in response to Salman Khan's petition. The court has scheduled the next hearing for today, June 19, 2026, and noted that a response from the filmmakers is essential before any interim order can be considered.
