Salman Khan Seeks Legal Action Against 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy'
Salman Khan's Legal Challenge Against Film Release
On Friday, the Delhi High Court reviewed a petition from Bollywood star Salman Khan, who is requesting a halt to the release and promotion of the film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy'. Khan claims that the film infringes upon his personality rights and could damage his public image.
**Arguments Presented in Court**
As reported by a news agency, this case is associated with an ongoing commercial lawsuit initiated by Salman Khan, focusing on the safeguarding of his personality and publicity rights.
During the proceedings presided over by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, Advocate Nizam Pasha, representing Khan, asserted, "The High Court had earlier granted protection to Salman Khan's personality rights in a previous ruling." The lawyer contended that despite this legal safeguard, a promotional poster released on May 29 features an individual resembling Salman Khan, adorned with a blue bracelet similar to one that Khan wears.
**Request to Stop 'Kala Hiran' Film**
Pasha further emphasized that the film is connected to criminal cases that have attracted considerable media scrutiny. He referenced the blackbuck poaching incident, noting that four FIRs were filed; Khan was acquitted in three instances, while one case is still ongoing.
The court was made aware that defamatory remarks about Salman Khan are often disseminated in the media, leading to the request for a suspension of the film's release.
Khan's legal representative also informed the court that the trailer for 'Kala Hiran' was unveiled on Friday morning. In light of this, the court remarked that it was essential to notify the defendants before making any interim decisions.
**Court Directs Notice to Film Producers**
Khan's petition targets producer Amit Jani, Jani Firefox Films, director Bharat Srinate, Akshay Pandey, and other individuals involved in the film. Consequently, the court ordered that a notice be issued regarding the petition.
The court also addressed Khan's request for a stay on the release of 'Blackbuck: The Battle for Legacy'. The next hearing is set for June 19.
