Concert Safety Violations Prompt Police Action

The organizers of rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's live performance in Mumbai are under scrutiny following a police complaint regarding safety breaches during the event. An FIR has been lodged against Inderjeet Singh, a representative of Tamannaz Worldwide, the company behind the concert held at MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex on March 28. The event, which was grand in scale, reportedly violated several safety protocols, prompting the Mumbai Police to take action.

FIR Filed Over Illegal Laser Light Use and Crowd Control Issues

The main reason for the FIR is the deployment of high-intensity laser lights at a venue situated within the safety zone of Mumbai's airport. Given the proximity of MMRDA Grounds to the airport, the use of such laser lights is strictly forbidden. Despite prior warnings from the police, the promoters proceeded with their use during the concert.

Authorities had issued explicit instructions to the organizers before the event, which were disregarded. Notably, while the Bombay High Court had previously declined to impose a blanket prohibition on laser lights in public areas in September 2024, it affirmed that police have the right to intervene if such lights pose a risk.

In addition to the laser light controversy, the crowd size raised significant alarms. The organizers had estimated an attendance of around 12,000, but the actual number was believed to be between 18,000 and 20,000. The situation escalated when a woman attempted to breach security by jumping over a closed gate, leading to intervention by security personnel as she became agitated and verbally abusive.
