Tendulkar and Federer's Lasting Bond
Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar expressed his warm sentiments for tennis legend Roger Federer following their recent meeting, which highlighted their long-standing friendship. On social media platform X, Tendulkar shared a photo alongside the 20-time Grand Slam winner, stating, "Some rallies never end. Our friendship is one of them. Always a pleasure spending time with you, Roger. Until we meet again."
Star-Studded Royal Box at Wimbledon
Tendulkar once again captured attention at Wimbledon, where he was among a prestigious group of sports figures in the Royal Box. He watched as Alexander Zverev triumphed over Britain's Arthur Fery, securing a spot in his first men's singles final at the All England Club.
Wimbledon welcomed Tendulkar back to Centre Court with a post on X, stating, "Cricket royalty returns to the Royal Box. Welcome back to Wimbledon, Sachin Tendulkar."
Star Sports also highlighted Tendulkar's presence during a live broadcast, where a commentator referred to him as "the greatest batsman of all time," while the cameras showcased him enjoying the match.
In the Royal Box, Tendulkar was joined by former West Indies captain Brian Lara, marking a reunion of two batting legends who were once fierce rivals and later teammates in charity matches. Current India Test captain Shubman Gill was also present, adding to the cricketing legacy at Centre Court.
The Royal Box also included notable football figures, such as Liverpool and Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk, along with Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe.
Zverev Advances to First Wimbledon Final
On the court, Zverev concluded Fery's impressive Wimbledon journey with a decisive 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 victory, taking just over two hours. After a tightly contested first set, Zverev dominated with his powerful serves and aggressive baseline play.
This win propels Zverev into his inaugural Wimbledon final and marks his fifth appearance in a Grand Slam title match. He becomes only the third German man in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon final, following in the footsteps of Boris Becker and Michael Stich.
Despite the loss, Fery's remarkable performance captured the hearts of British fans. The wildcard player reached his first Grand Slam semi-final after defeating several competitors, including Damir Dzumhur and Grigor Dimitrov, which is expected to elevate him to World No. 36 in the ATP Live Rankings.
