About Project Hail Mary
Project Hail Mary is adapted from Andy Weir's 2021 science fiction novel. The story follows Dr. Ryland Grace, portrayed by Gosling, a school teacher who finds himself stranded in a spacecraft. Upon awakening, he encounters an alien named Rocky, who becomes an unexpected ally. As Ryland regains his strength, he learns that his mission in space is to prevent a mysterious object from blocking the Sun. Gosling has mentioned that filming certain scenes was quite challenging, especially when his co-star was not physically present. He shared that his daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee, assisted him by voicing the alien character through an earpiece. "There are moments where I'm laughing or charmed, and it's actually my kids talking to me," Gosling remarked.
He also noted that his daughters played a significant role in the project, watching various cuts of the film and providing feedback. Their involvement was a key factor in his decision to take on this role.
