Riteish Deshmukh Addresses Controversy After Viral Dance Video at Raja Shivaji Success Party
Celebrating Success of Raja Shivaji
The film *Raja Shivaji*, which Riteish Deshmukh both directed and starred in, has garnered significant acclaim from audiences and critics alike, achieving impressive box office results. To commemorate this success, the cast and crew, including Riteish, organized a celebratory party.
A clip from the celebration went viral, showcasing Riteish dancing to a popular Bollywood track while sporting a T-shirt emblazoned with an image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This footage led to a wave of criticism online, with some users suggesting he appeared intoxicated. Riteish has now publicly addressed the situation, offering an apology and sharing his perspective.
**Clarification on Intentions**
In an Instagram Story, Riteish provided a comprehensive explanation regarding the incident. He stated, "Our team held a small gathering to celebrate the wonderful reception of *Raja Shivaji*. A video of me from this event has gone viral on social media.
As a devoted follower of Shivaji Maharaj (*Shivpremi*) and someone who holds deep respect for my family, I feel compelled to clarify. I want to express that I had no intention of disrespecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj while celebrating in that T-shirt.
I had worn that T-shirt during the film's promotional events. On that day, I attended the gathering right after finishing promotional activities, so I simply forgot to change out of it."
**Denial of Alcohol Consumption**
Riteish further emphasized, "In response to the allegations circulating on social media, I want to clarify that I have never consumed alcohol in my life, nor do I plan to in the future. Thus, these claims are entirely unfounded. The individual who recorded this video was not even invited to the event." He added that the gathering was meant to show appreciation to all the artists and crew who dedicated three and a half years to the film 'Raja Shivaji.' However, he expressed regret if his actions unintentionally offended anyone.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a figure of faith, inspiration, and pride for many. I have profound respect, love, and devotion for him, which remains unwavering. Jai Shivray!
