Indian cricketer Rinku Singh, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, is set to marry Priya Saroj, with their engagement scheduled for June 8 at a hotel in Lucknow. Rinku, who recently participated in the IPL season, has been in a relationship with Priya, and this engagement signifies a significant milestone in his personal journey.

Clarification on Engagement Rumors

Earlier this year, there were rumors regarding Rinku and Priya's marriage, which were denied by their families. However, the couple is now officially engaged, putting an end to the speculation. Priya's father, Tufani Saroj, confirmed that they sought parental approval for their marriage, which has been granted.

Who is Priya Saroj?

As Rinku prepares for his engagement, it's essential to know more about Priya Saroj. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a senior leader of the Samajwadi Party and an MLA from the Kerakat constituency. At 26, Priya completed her schooling at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University. She later pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree at Amity University.

Priya gained recognition last year when she became one of the youngest Members of Parliament elected to the Lok Sabha. Running on a Samajwadi Party ticket, she won her first election by defeating BJP candidate B. P. Saroj by a margin of 35,850 votes, securing the Machhlishahr constituency. This victory marked a significant political comeback for her family, as her father previously held the seat in 2009.

Rinku Singh's IPL 2025 Performance

On the cricketing front, Rinku Singh's performance in IPL 2025 was less than stellar, as the Kolkata Knight Riders were eliminated from the tournament, finishing in 8th place with five wins, seven losses, and two no results. This outcome meant they did not qualify for the playoffs, ending their title defense.

In 13 matches, Rinku scored 206 runs with an average of 29.43 and a strike rate of 153.43. Although his performance was not ideal, he did surpass his previous season's tally of 168 runs in 15 matches. Rinku played a crucial role in the Knight Riders' title victory last season.

Currently, Rinku is not part of the India A team or the squad for the upcoming Test series against England. However, he is expected to return for the T20I series against Bangladesh in August, with a possibility of being selected for the ODI series due to his consistent performances in shorter formats.
