Tributes from Leaders
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commemorated the victims, stating, "Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss. As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed." Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the nation solemnly remembers the innocent lives lost in the horrific attack. He remarked that the pain of their loss remains in the hearts of every Indian and reiterated that terrorism is humanity's greatest adversary, urging unity in combating it. He also affirmed India's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and its supporters.
In response to the Pahalgam attack, India initiated a military operation named Operation Sindoor, targeting and dismantling terrorist and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation was accompanied by restrictions on Pakistani actors' social media accounts, YouTube channels, and television content to prevent the spread of misinformation and anti-India sentiment.
