Om Puri's ex-wife, Nandita Puri, authored a book revealing intimate details about his life. She recounted an incident from when he was just 14 years old, where he had a sexual encounter with a 55-year-old maid while staying at his uncle's house. The lights had gone out, and in that moment, he connected with her, marking his first love.

In a 2015 interview, Om Puri spoke about his own mortality, predicting that his death would come unexpectedly. He remarked, 'You won’t even realize when you die; you will just pass away in your sleep.' He humorously noted, 'You will know that Om Puri died at 7:22 AM yesterday,' which eerily mirrored the circumstances of his actual passing.
