A Heartfelt Farewell to Julian McMahon


Los Angeles: The entertainment world mourns the loss of Julian McMahon, the Australian actor renowned for his portrayal of the iconic Marvel villain Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four films. He passed away at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with cancer.


His wife, Kelly McMahon, announced his passing in a heartfelt statement to a prominent American entertainment news outlet. Julian took his last breath on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida.


In her touching tribute, Kelly expressed, "With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life, his family, friends, work, and fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. We hope that all those who found joy in Julian's life continue to do so. We are grateful for the memories."


Born on July 27, 1968, in Sydney, Australia, McMahon was the son of Billy McMahon, who served as Australia’s Prime Minister from 1971 to 1972.


He began his career in modeling before making his acting debut in the short-lived Australian soap opera, The Power, the Passion, in 1989.


McMahon gained further recognition starring in the popular soap Home and Away from 1990 to 1991.


His feature film debut came in 1992 alongside Elliott Gould in the Australian-American comedy Wet and Wild Summer!. He later moved to Hollywood, where he appeared in several daytime television shows.


His breakout role was in Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed series Nip/Tuck, which aired on FX for six seasons and earned him a Golden Globe nomination.


In 2005, he took on the role of Victor Von Doom in Fantastic Four, sharing the screen with Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis. He reprised this role in the sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, released in 2007.


His filmography also includes titles such as Premonition, RED, Paranoia, You’re Not You, and Swinging Safari. Most recently, he appeared in The Surfer, starring Nicolas Cage.


Julian McMahon was married three times, including to Australian singer Dannii Minogue in 1994 and to actress Brooke Burns, with whom he shares a daughter, Madison McMahon.
