A Sad Farewell to Dheeraj Kumar

Mumbai has lost a significant figure in the entertainment industry with the passing of Dheeraj Kumar, a multifaceted producer, director, and actor, who died on Tuesday at 11:40 AM.

At the age of 79, he was receiving treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where he was accompanied by his son, Ashutosh Kumar, during his final moments.

Kumar had been battling acute pneumonia and was on ventilator support in the ICU when he suffered a cardiac arrest.

It is expected that the hospital will require 2-3 hours to complete the necessary paperwork before his remains can be taken home. His cremation is anticipated to take place tomorrow, allowing family members to arrive from Punjab.

In a heartfelt statement, his family expressed their sorrow, stating, "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dheeraj Kumar, a distinguished actor, producer, and director, who succumbed to cardiac arrest. He was under care at Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri West and was on ventilator support. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of a talented individual who made significant contributions. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this challenging time. May his soul find peace."

Dheeraj Kumar began his career in the entertainment sector in 1965, where he was a finalist in a talent competition alongside notable figures like Subhash Ghai and Rajesh Khanna, who ultimately won.

He appeared in 21 Punjabi films between 1970 and 1984 and founded Creative Eye, where he served as chairman and managing director. One of his notable performances was in the film Swami, featuring the song Ka Karoon Sajani, Aaye Na Balam. His filmography also includes titles like Heera Panna and Raaton Ka Raja.

Recently, Kumar attended the opening ceremony of the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, where he commended Prime Minister Modi for his support of Sanatan Dharma.

He remarked, "I arrived here with humility. While they referred to me as a VVIP, I believe the true VVIP is God. Prime Minister Modi's words about the grandeur and significance of the ISKCON temple are always inspiring."

He further added, "The warmth and love from the people here have profoundly moved me. The spiritual significance of phrases like 'Radhe Radhe Krishna Krishna' is immense, and visiting this temple brings me peace."
