Remembering Bharat Kapoor: A Tribute to the Veteran Actor's Legacy
A Sad Farewell to Bharat Kapoor
In a heartbreaking turn of events, veteran actor Bharat Kapoor, renowned for his memorable supporting roles in films such as Hindustan Ki Kasam and Sone Pe Suhaaga, passed away on Monday afternoon due to a cardiac arrest, as confirmed by his close friend, actor Avatar Gill.
At the age of 80, Kapoor's health had been declining for the past three days before his untimely demise. Gill shared, "I received a call from Bharat ji's son, Rahul, informing me that his father had passed away around 3:00 PM at home."
Reflecting on their long-standing friendship, Gill expressed, "I have known him for over 50 years. We collaborated on numerous plays and films. Although we hadn't spoken in the last week, losing him feels like losing an elder brother, a mentor, and a dear friend."
Kapoor was particularly known for his roles in films like Barsaat, Aakhree Raasta, Noorie, Ram Balram, and Inkaar, often portraying antagonistic characters.
His last rites took place at 6:00 PM at the crematorium near Sion Hospital, with a chautha ceremony scheduled for April 30 at the North Bombay Association.
Family members and close industry friends, including Rakesh Bedi and director Ramesh Talvar, gathered to pay their final respects, as noted by Gill.
Bharat Kapoor is survived by his wife Lopa and sons Rahul and Sagar, while his daughter Kavita had passed away a few years prior.
