Remembering Anthony Head: A Legacy of Love and Talent in Entertainment
A Fond Farewell to Anthony Head
Anthony Head, the celebrated British actor known for his memorable performances in shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Ted Lasso," has sadly passed away at the age of 72. His family shared the news on June 5, revealing that he died peacefully due to pneumonia complications, surrounded by his loved ones. In a touching statement, his daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, expressed their grief, saying, "With heavy hearts, we announce the loss of our remarkable father, Anthony Head. It has been an honor and privilege to be his daughters and to witness the profound impact he and his work had on countless lives."
Head's personal journey included a long-lasting relationship with Sarah Fisher, whom he met in the early 1980s at the National Theatre. In a July 2001 interview, he fondly recalled their first meeting during a performance of "Danton's Death," where he was immediately drawn to her. Their relationship evolved from casual backstage chats to a deep connection that endured for many years. Although Head proposed marriage several times, Fisher chose to remain unmarried, a decision he respected throughout their partnership.
Fisher, who passed away in December 2025 at the age of 61, was a passionate advocate for animal welfare. She established Animal Centred Education (ACE) at Tilley Farm, focusing on the needs of dogs and other animals. Her daughters noted her significant influence, leaving a lasting legacy in the animal welfare community that continues to inspire many.
Both Emily and Daisy Head have followed in their father's footsteps, carving out successful careers in acting. While filming "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in the U.S., Head prioritized family, ultimately leaving the show in its sixth season to return to the UK. He reflected in a 2002 interview, "Decisions about how long I would be away have always been made as a family," underscoring the importance of family in his life and career.
In his later years, Head showcased his remarkable talent in the Apple TV+ series "Ted Lasso," where he played a wise and compassionate coach. This final role highlighted his dedication to his craft, leaving a lasting impact on audiences and cementing his legacy as a cherished figure in the entertainment world.
