Release Date for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Delayed to 2027
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Release Update
Fans eager to see Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew on the big screen will need to wait a little longer, as the film directed by Greta Gerwig is now set to debut globally on February 12, 2027. The Netflix premiere is scheduled for April 2, 2027, with IMAX sneak previews beginning on February 10, 2027. This change in schedule raises questions about whether Avengers: Doomsday will take advantage of the available IMAX screens, as it is currently slated for release on December 18, 2026, coinciding with Dune: Part Three, which has already secured IMAX bookings for the first three weeks.
Narnia's Delay: Will Doomsday Take Advantage?
With the release of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew now pushed to 2027, it will enjoy a notable 45-day theatrical window, a rarity for a Netflix production. This film marks the first adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic and serves as an origin story for the Narnia saga.
Earlier this year, Disney announced a new premium large format (PLF) certification called Infinity Vision to attract audiences for Avengers: Doomsday. Meanwhile, Dune: Part Three has already claimed all IMAX screens in the U.S. If Doomsday maintains its release date, it may miss out on this opportunity. However, with Narnia vacating IMAX screens after Thanksgiving, Doomsday could potentially shift its release to capture those screens sooner.
