Ranveer Singh's Non-Cooperation Directive Explained: No Ban Imposed
Clarification on Ranveer Singh's Status
On May 25, 2026, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees Association (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh after he reportedly withdrew from the film Don 3 just days before production was set to begin. Following this announcement, many social media users mistakenly believed that the actor had been banned by the FWICE. However, this is not accurate. Ashoke Pandit, the chief advisor and director of FWICE, clarified that the organization does not have the authority to impose a ban, as it is not a judicial body.
Ashoke Pandit's Statement on the Non-Cooperation Directive
In a conversation with Etimes, Ashoke Pandit emphasized that the situation has been misinterpreted. He stated, “It's not a ban. We are not a court; we can't ban people. We have issued a non-cooperation directive, which means that our members from 30 different crafts will choose not to work with him.” He further explained that this decision is a personal choice for each member. Additionally, he expressed concern that artists leaving projects unexpectedly could have severe financial repercussions for producers, noting that not all production houses have the financial stability of companies like Excel Entertainment.
Pandit also mentioned that FWICE has made attempts to resolve the issue amicably, having sent three invitations to Ranveer Singh for discussions with Farhan Akhtar and FWICE representatives. Unfortunately, the actor did not respond until he learned about an upcoming press conference by FWICE. The chief advisor noted that Ranveer had sent an email indicating that the matter was outside their jurisdiction. The situation remains unresolved, as discussions regarding the Rs 45 crore compensation claim from Farhan Akhtar are still pending. Pandit suggested that negotiations could lead to a different compensation figure.
Ranveer Singh's Response
Ranveer Singh's team has publicly stated that the actor is maintaining a dignified silence regarding the ongoing dispute. Earlier today, he visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru, Karnataka, amidst the controversy surrounding Don 3. His next project is reportedly the film Pralay.
