Ranveer Singh's Exit from Don 3 Sparks Controversy

The ongoing debate surrounding Ranveer Singh's alleged 'ban' following his departure from Don 3 has escalated to involve the Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA). This situation intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh. Recent comments from CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon have added new dimensions to the discussion. Poonam expressed her concerns about CINTAA being excluded from discussions related to the issue, prompting a response from FWICE president BN Tiwari, who clarified that the federation's goal was not to impose a ban but to facilitate dialogue.

Poonam Dhillon's Perspective on the Controversy

Poonam Dhillon has voiced her thoughts on the matter, stating that CINTAA was not made aware of the dispute, despite Ranveer being a member. In an interview with HTCity, she mentioned her reluctance to comment without full knowledge of the situation. She expressed disappointment over FWICE's lack of communication with CINTAA before issuing its directive. Poonam emphasized that had they been informed earlier, CINTAA could have intervened and conducted further inquiries into the matter. She also criticized the use of the term 'banning,' calling it excessively strong for an actor like Ranveer, whom she described as a dedicated and talented individual. Poonam noted that CINTAA learned about the situation through media outlets, which she deemed an inappropriate way to handle such issues.

In a previous conversation with Variety India, Poonam remarked that the entire scenario felt unusual since neither party had officially communicated with CINTAA regarding the dispute involving one of its members.

Response from FWICE President

In response to Poonam Dhillon’s comments, FWICE president BN Tiwari clarified in a discussion with HTCity that he had reached out to her, suggesting she could mediate the situation due to her rapport with Ranveer Singh. However, he noted that the issue did not technically fall under her jurisdiction. Tiwari explained that FWICE had received requests from the directors’ association and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit to support Farhan Akhtar in his role as a filmmaker.

Defending the federation's approach, Tiwari stated that it would not have been feasible to contact every association for meetings. He claimed to have attempted to reach Poonam twice after her public comments but alleged that she did not return his calls. Tiwari reiterated that FWICE's primary interest is resolving the issue, not engaging in an ego battle. He clarified that the federation's statement was not intended to permanently ban Ranveer Singh, stating, "All we said is we will not work with Ranveer till he shares his version of the case." He also welcomed anyone willing to mediate or assist in resolving the matter.

The controversy originated when Ranveer Singh reportedly exited Don 3 just weeks before filming was set to commence, leading to significant financial repercussions for the producers and the production team, which is helmed by Farhan Akhtar. Following this, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh on May 25, 2026, declaring that its members would refrain from working with him until the issue was addressed and his perspective was shared. Reports indicate that Ranveer had even proposed to pay Rs 10 Crore upfront and offer a Rs 20 crore discount on future projects with Farhan Akhtar's production house, but this was not accepted.
