Varma intriguingly compared the film's protagonist, Nikki, to Urmila Matondkar's iconic character from his own 1999 thriller, Kaun.

On June 7, Varma expressed his 'obsession' with Obsession on X, asserting that the film has challenged traditional industry beliefs about audience attraction. Varma emphasized that the film does not rely on big-name actors, extravagant settings, or costly production designs. "I remembered this shot of Urmila from KAUN after watching OBSESSION," he noted.
