Ram Charan's Peddi Shows Strong Advance Bookings Ahead of Release
Promising Start for Peddi at the Box Office
Ram Charan's upcoming film, Peddi, is generating excitement at the box office, as advance ticket sales indicate a positive trend prior to its release. This sports action drama is gaining traction both domestically and internationally, setting the stage for a potentially successful opening day. However, the film faces a significant hurdle in Telangana, where ticket sales are lagging due to pending approvals.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi explores themes of identity and empowerment through the lens of sports.
Advance Bookings: Peddi vs. Game Changer
Peddi Advance Booking: Ram Charan Starrer Off to Slow Start, Trails Game Changer
As per industry reports, Peddi has garnered around Rs 5.39 crore in advance bookings for its opening day in India, excluding blocked seats. The Telugu version has been the primary contributor to this figure, while the Tamil and Hindi versions have seen less enthusiasm. Currently, over 22,000 tickets have been sold across more than 2,400 shows in the Telugu market alone.
Despite these numbers, Peddi still has a long way to go to match the pre-release success of Ram Charan's previous film, Game Changer, which achieved approximately Rs 26 crore in advance bookings before its release. Game Changer debuted on January 10, 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival, which significantly boosted its performance. Although it had a strong opening, it received mixed reviews and was ultimately deemed a box office disappointment for director Shankar, following Indian 2 (2024).
Importance of Telangana for Peddi's Success
Telangana Crucial For Peddi
On the international front, Peddi has fared much better, with global advance bookings surpassing Rs 12 crore, largely fueled by strong interest from North America. The film's premiere advance sales in the U.S. approached USD 800,000, with real-time gross figures around USD 797,000 (approximately Rs 7.58 crore). Overall advance sales in North America exceeded USD 882,000 (about Rs 8.39 crore) as of Tuesday morning.
One significant factor impacting Peddi's final advance booking figures is the delay in ticket sales in Telangana. Reports indicate that pending government approvals regarding ticket pricing and paid premieres have hindered bookings in the state. It is anticipated that once ticket sales in Telangana fully open, Peddi could experience a surge in its pre-release numbers.
The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, co-produced by Ishan Saksena under IVY Entertainment, and presented by Mythri Movie Makers in collaboration with Sukumar Writings. Alongside Ram Charan, the cast includes Janhvi Kapoor, Shivarajkumar, and Jagapathi Babu. Peddi is set to hit theaters on June 4, with paid premieres scheduled for the evening of June 3.
