Rakesh Bedi Reflects on Stardom and Industry Hierarchy
Rakesh Bedi's Rise to Fame
Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has recently experienced a surge in popularity following the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Best known for his role as Jameel Jamali in this two-part hit, he has captured the hearts of many online. In a candid discussion, Bedi shared insights about the fluctuating nature of fame and recounted a challenging moment from his early career. He remembered a time when he was in dire need of funds while filming and approached the producer for his overdue payment. The producer, however, informed him that the money was reserved for the film's lead actor. This incident opened his eyes to the industry's hierarchy, where prominent stars often take precedence.

In an exclusive interview with a media outlet, he recounted, "I remember a time when I was shooting and desperately needed money. There was a big hero on set, and when the producer arrived with a packet of cash, I could see it. I asked him, 'Sir, my installment is due, I need the money.' He replied, 'There’s no money right now.' I blurted out, 'But there is money!' He said, 'This is for the hero'... and I realized how things operate here." Bedi elaborated that everything has its own value. He likened it to shares, explaining that if someone buys a share for Rs 10 and it skyrockets to Rs 1000, people will naturally regard it as worth Rs 1000. He emphasized that a person's status is similarly fluid. While he has come to accept this reality, he believes that hierarchy should never justify disrespect towards others. He mentioned that he refrains from asking a dressman to assist him unless he is injured, as he feels uncomfortable doing so otherwise. Bedi acknowledged that senior actors receive better treatment due to their status, but this should be seen as professional respect rather than a means to belittle others.

Has Dhurandhar Changed Things For Him? Rakesh Bedi Responds
Reflecting on his career, Bedi stated, "For me, these are trivial matters. I don't dwell on them or get overly concerned. I've seen this happen many times before. After Ye Jo Hai Zindagi, I experienced stardom, and again after Shrimaan Shrimati and Chashme Baddoor. However, the nature of stardom has changed significantly. Today, with just one click, millions can instantly access information about a conversation, highlighting how much the landscape has evolved. In the past, actors were thrilled with even a small mention in a magazine. I’m gradually adapting to this new era of instant fame, though I’m still getting used to it."
