Rajpal Yadav's Legal Troubles and Industry Response

On February 5, 2026, well-known actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav turned himself in at Tihar Jail in Delhi due to a ₹9 crore cheque bounce issue. Shortly after, he was granted interim bail by the court, contingent upon him depositing part of the owed amount. Recently, Rajpal Yadav shared his thoughts on this significant controversy in his life.

He elaborated on the backing he received from both the film industry and public sentiment regarding the situation. Yadav clarified that his surrender was not due to financial incapacity to pay the ₹5 crore but stemmed from a different issue altogether. What prompted Rajpal Yadav to surrender? Let's delve deeper into the details.

'The Issue Was Much Larger Than Just Settling ₹5 Crore.'
In a recent podcast with Shubhankhar Mishra, Rajpal Yadav discussed the controversy. When questioned about why, given his extensive experience in over 250 films, repaying ₹5 crore seemed challenging, he responded promptly.

He also mentioned that this controversy led to a significant financial setback for him, estimated between ₹17 crore and ₹22 crore. He explained, "₹12 crore had already been invested in the project, which eventually escalated to a ₹22 crore endeavor. Even if your worst enemy is part of a project, it should still be released. Let the audience decide. In this industry, 100 films are made; 80 of them fail, while only 20 succeed. This does not mean you have defrauded anyone."

Did He Receive Support from the Industry?
During this challenging time, did his colleagues in Bollywood support him? In response, Rajpal Yadav stated, "For the past 25 years—from my village to Mumbai—there hasn't been a single person who hasn't supported me. No director or producer has failed to call me back for work. If the industry hadn't backed me, how could I have appeared in so many films?"

'I Trust the Justice System Completely.'
Concluding his reflections on this tough period, Rajpal Yadav expressed, "I have immense respect for the judiciary, the legislature, and the executive. I fully trust our justice system. I did not initiate this conflict, but I will resolve it. There have been numerous misunderstandings; people need to hear the complete narrative."

Currently, Rajpal Yadav is featured in the newly released horror-comedy film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', starring Akshay Kumar, which is performing exceptionally well at the box office.
