Trailer Highlights Ramakant's Desperation
The trailer for Toaster was released on social media with the tagline 'Pati, patni, aur Toaster'. Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, the film's story is crafted by Parveez Shaikh, with the screenplay co-written by Parveez, Akshat Ghildial, and Anagh Mukerjee. The trailer showcases Ramakant's miserly nature, much to the frustration of his wife, played by Sanya Malhotra, who persuades him to buy an extravagant toaster as a wedding gift.
However, chaos ensues when Ramakant discovers that the wedding has been canceled and the gifts were donated. This revelation sends him on a wild quest to retrieve the toaster, encountering quirky characters portrayed by Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa. Archana Puran Singh plays his mother. As Ramakant digs deeper into his obsession, the trailer hints at the emergence of a 'Toaster Killer'.
Rajkummar Rao's Journey with 'Toaster'
Following his roles in The White Tiger, Ludo, and Monica, O My Darling, Toaster is Rajkummar's latest Netflix project. This film also marks the debut of his production house, Kampa Film. The actor expressed that he was intrigued by the concept of how something seemingly trivial could dominate a person's thoughts. He emphasized that Ramakant believes his actions are justified and practical, rather than extreme. Rajkummar also shared his excitement about working both in front of and behind the camera for Toaster.
Previously, Rajkummar collaborated with director Vivek Das Chaudhary on the Netflix series Guns & Gulaabs, where Vivek served as an assistant director. This film marks Vivek's directorial debut, having previously directed the short film Gubbare.
