Santoshi acknowledged that while the influence of social media can sometimes be unsettling, it is essential for filmmakers to adapt to this new reality.

When asked about the impact of social media reviews on films, he stated, "Social media has become a crucial player in our industry. While it can be quite disturbing at times, we must learn to coexist with it. Their role in marketing and publicity is undeniable."

'Batwara 1947', which premiered in theaters on August 14, 2026, has received praise for its heartfelt storytelling and the strong performances of its lead actors.

Mufti Manzur, the Chairman of the Islamic Council, took to social media to commend 'Batwara 1947' for its powerful message of love and humanity conveyed through the narrative.

He praised Santoshi for his sensitive portrayal of a mother's love and for delivering a message of compassion in a time of conflict.

Mufti Manzur also expressed admiration for the impressive performances by the film's ensemble cast, which includes Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.

Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, 'Batwara 1947' is helmed by the National Award-winning director Rajkumar Santoshi.

The film's music is composed by the legendary A. R. Rahman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

It is believed that 'Batwara 1947' draws inspiration from Asghar Wajahat's play 'Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai', a well-known Punjabi saying that means, "Visiting Lahore is so essential that if you do not come here, it is as if you have not even been born."
