Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' Faces Screening Halt in Canada Amidst Box Office Success
Global Success and Screening Issues
Rajinikanth's latest film, 'Jailer 2', is achieving remarkable success at the international box office. However, its screening has been unexpectedly suspended at a cinema in Canada. Patrons at York Cinemas were left disappointed as they could not experience Rajinikanth's performance. Let's explore the reasons behind this disruption.
Reasons for the Screening Suspension
The screening of 'Jailer 2' was halted at York Cinemas in Canada. The theater shared this news via their social media, detailing the circumstances that led to this decision. They stated, "We regret to announce that 'Jailer 2' will no longer be shown at York Cinemas, starting Wednesday, October 21. The current situation is beyond our control. The KDM (Key Delivery Message)—essential for screening the film—was expected from the North American distributors, Shloka Entertainments and Prathyangira Cinemas. Furthermore, necessary approvals from the production house, Sun Pictures, were also pending. Despite all payments being settled, these formalities remain incomplete, making it impossible to continue screenings due to technical issues."
Apology to the Audience
In their announcement, York Cinemas expressed their regret and apologized to moviegoers for the inconvenience. The management conveyed that they had exerted every effort to maintain the screenings but were ultimately unable to do so. They thanked the audience for their ongoing support, cooperation, and patience during this time.
Box Office Milestone Achieved
'Jailer 2' has made a significant impact at the box office, with its opening day in India generating a net collection of ₹59.70 crore. By the sixth day of its release—Tuesday—the film accumulated ₹45.55 crore. The total net earnings in India have now reached ₹287.80 crore, contributing to a worldwide gross of ₹541 crore. The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
