Rajasthan United Secures Victory

On Wednesday, Rajasthan United claimed a 2-0 victory against Chanmari FC at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur, thanks to second-half goals from Naoba Meitei and Amadou Soukouna. This win temporarily placed them at the top of the Indian Football League 2025-26 standings.

With this result, Rajasthan United now has 11 points from six matches, while Chanmari FC sits in eighth place with five points from the same number of games. Amadou Soukouna was named Player of the Match, as reported by the AIFF.

First Half: A Tactical Stalemate

In his debut match as head coach, Dipankur Sharma of Chanmari FC made three changes to the starting lineup, introducing foreign defenders Kyle Degelman and Marlon Angel, while KC Malsawmsanga replaced Joel Lalramengmawia in the attack. Conversely, Vikrant Sharma kept the same lineup for Rajasthan United.

Chanmari FC began the match with more attacking vigor, utilizing the speed of KC Malsawmsanga and Jota on the wings. Rajasthan United, on the other hand, focused on building play from the back, alternating between short passes and long balls aimed at Soukouna.

The best opportunity for Rajasthan came midway through the first half when Thomyo Shimray missed a chance from a right-side cross. Chanmari's Suanngaihmuana also struggled to convert a header into a goal, failing to challenge the goalkeeper after a cross from Malsawmsanga.

Both teams went into halftime without scoring, as clear chances were scarce in the heat.

Second Half: Goals Secure the Win

Rajasthan United made a pivotal change at halftime by bringing on Naoba Meitei, who made an immediate impact. Just seven minutes after the restart, he received the ball at the edge of the box, maneuvered past Degelman, and scored with a brilliant shot from a tight angle.

Eight minutes later, Amadou Soukouna doubled the lead with a spectacular long-range goal. After regaining possession in midfield, Gautam Virwani set up Soukouna, who unleashed a powerful strike from distance that found the back of the net.

After establishing a two-goal lead, Rajasthan United fortified their defense, allowing Chanmari FC to press forward. Despite their efforts, the visitors struggled with their final passes and finishing, failing to pose a significant threat to the home side's defense.
