Riteish Deshmukh's film Raja Shivaji has achieved remarkable success at the box office, maintaining its strong performance despite the release of new films. This historical drama, where Deshmukh serves as both director and lead actor, has made history by becoming the first Marathi film to exceed ₹100 crore in India Nett Box Office Collection. The movie, which chronicles the life of the legendary Shivaji Maharaj, features a stellar cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Bhagyashree, and Genelia Deshmukh. Since its release on May 1, the film has consistently performed well, ranking as the eighth-highest grossing Indian film of the year.


According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Raja Shivaji crossed the ₹100 crore milestone in its fourth week, earning ₹70 lakh on Friday, ₹1.35 crore on Saturday, and ₹1.40 crore on Sunday, bringing its total to ₹101.40 crore.



In the previous week, the film garnered ₹1.70 crore on Friday, ₹2.98 crore on Saturday, and ₹3.80 crore on Sunday, followed by ₹1.25 crore on Monday. The first week saw earnings of ₹57.70 crore, while the second week brought in ₹27 crore. The cumulative earnings for weeks three and four were ₹13.35 crore and ₹3.45 crore, respectively, totaling ₹101.40 crore. Additionally, the film has performed exceptionally well globally, amassing ₹114.8 crore, making it the highest-grossing Marathi film of all time.



In a recent interview with a media outlet, Bhagyashree, who portrays Shivaji's mother, discussed the minimal age gap in their roles. She expressed her excitement about playing a character she had long admired, stating, 'When you get to play a role that you have grown up hearing stories about, there is no question to say no.' She also mentioned that the director, Santosh Sivan, had to use camera techniques to make her appear older, which she took as a compliment.


Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, Raja Shivaji is a grand biographical film that honors the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
