Raghava Lawrence Sparks Political Speculation with New Video
Raghava Lawrence Discusses Political Aspirations
Raghava Lawrence recently posted a video on his X account, expressing his thoughts on politics while keeping his intentions somewhat ambiguous. The well-known actor and choreographer began his message by stating, “Do your duty but don’t expect anything in return,” emphasizing his commitment to charitable work. He reminisced about his support for Rajinikanth during the actor's political debut and later shifted focus to Thalapathy Vijay's potential political career. This has led fans to speculate whether he might be aligning himself with Vijay’s political party, TVK, especially with the buzz surrounding the Trichy East constituency.

In his video, Lawrence reflected on his admiration for Rajinikanth, which once prompted him to consider joining the superstar's political movement. He sought his mother's blessing, whom he reveres and even built a temple for, but she disapproved, likening politics to a “drainage-like” field. After informing Rajinikanth of his mother's stance, the actor advised him to be patient.
Following Rajinikanth's health issues, which led to the dissolution of his political movement, Lawrence chose to concentrate on his film career, particularly the Kanchana series. Years later, when Thalapathy Vijay announced his political ambitions, Lawrence revisited the idea. He again consulted his mother, who remained hesitant. However, her opinion shifted when he mentioned Vijay's anticipated success in the Tamil Nadu 2026 elections, which could see Vijay as the chief minister. This time, she supported his aspirations, much to Lawrence's delight.
Despite sharing these insights, Lawrence did not explicitly confirm his plans to join Vijay's party. Instead, he encouraged his fans to express their opinions in the comments, effectively placing his political future in their hands.
Speculation Around Trichy East Seat
Is Raghava Lawrence contesting in Trichy East Seat For TVK?
Lawrence's recent comments have ignited speculation about a potential candidacy for the Trichy East constituency, previously held by Thalapathy Vijay. In the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23, Vijay won both Trichy East and Perambur, defeating DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj by a significant margin of 27,416 votes in Trichy East.
However, since candidates can only retain one seat, Vijay opted for Perambur, which is closer to the State Secretariat, and vacated Trichy East. Lawrence, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, has a long-standing friendship with Vijay and has choreographed several of his songs, including the 2003 film Thirumalai.
