On Wednesday, the Producers Guild of India commented on the ongoing controversy surrounding Don 3, involving Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment. While not naming individuals, the guild expressed concern over the increasing number of actors withdrawing from projects just before filming begins, which results in significant financial losses for producers. They also indicated that strict measures would be taken against such actions.
Ranvir Shorey Responds to the Guild's Statement
In light of the Don 3 situation, actor Ranvir Shorey highlighted the challenges faced by actors, noting that producers frequently delay or cancel projects without providing any compensation for the actors' losses. He remarked, "You would be surprised at how often producers unilaterally cancel or postpone projects without any mention of compensating the actor for their losses," in response to a news article regarding the guild's statement. He later clarified that his comments were general and not directed at any specific case.
When a follower suggested that the situation mirrored a typical employer-employee dynamic, where the employer usually has more at stake, Ranvir acknowledged this viewpoint. However, he emphasized that all workers deserve respect and fair treatment. He commented, "The number of producers who take an actor for granted is significantly lower than the number of actors who take a producer for granted in Bollywood. The exploitation is much more severe for new producers who often face bankruptcy due to last-minute changes in shooting schedules."

Following Ranveer Singh's abrupt departure from Don 3 just before production was set to commence, Excel Entertainment lodged a complaint with the Producers Guild of India. This prompted several high-profile meetings within the Hindi film industry to resolve the issue, but no agreement was reached. Subsequently, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a directive of non-cooperation against Ranveer, advising its members to refrain from working on his future projects. In response, the actor filed a legal notice against the organization, which has since rescinded the directive.
