A Memorable Milestone for 'Kaminey'

Priyanka Chopra has starred in numerous hit films throughout her career, but her portrayal of Sweety Shekhar Bhope in 'Kaminey' stands out as particularly significant. As the film marks its 16th anniversary, Priyanka took to social media to express her gratitude to the cast and crew, highlighting their contributions.

Reflecting on how she landed the role in 'Kaminey', Priyanka shared, "I was in Miami filming for Dostana with director Tarun Mansukhani and stars Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham. One evening, after wrapping up, I noticed a missed call from Vishal Bhardwaj. I had always wanted to collaborate with him, but I doubted he would consider me due to my 'commercial' image at that time."

She continued, "Vishal expressed his desire to meet me, and he traveled to Miami. I vividly recall him narrating the story, and I mentioned that my character had only about eight scenes. He assured me, 'With our collaboration, it will evolve into something much more. Trust me.' And I did trust him."

In her tribute, Priyanka noted, "#Kaminey was a pivotal moment in my career. I gained invaluable insights from the brilliant Vishal Bhardwaj on how to research, prepare, and fully embrace a character. Shahid Kapoor delivered an outstanding performance in his dual roles. Amol Gupte's contribution was unforgettable. I also met Mubina Rattonsey for the first time on this set. Those were remarkable times, 16 years ago! I wanted to share this experience. Have you all seen it?"

Shahid Kapoor portrayed the twin characters Charlie and Guddu, and the film garnered ten nominations at the 55th Filmfare Awards, including accolades for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor, ultimately winning for Best Special Effects.

The narrative centers on the intense rivalry between twin brothers over the course of a single day, set against the backdrop of Mumbai's underworld.
