Priyadarshan Announces His 100th Film Starring Mohanlal
Priyadarshan's Milestone Film Announcement
In a significant announcement made in 2025, renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan confirmed that his 100th film will feature the talented Mohanlal. Just a year prior, there were uncertainties about the project, but on March 21, the director officially revealed the film's development. Mohanlal will take on the lead role in this family-oriented movie, which is set to begin production later this year. The film, which is currently untitled, was introduced through a YouTube video where Priyadarshan, along with actor and producer Antony Perumbavoor, discussed the inspiration behind the story. Although the film lacks a title and a specific release date, it is anticipated to hit theaters in 2027.

In his announcement, Mohanlal expressed heartfelt sentiments towards Priyadarshan, emphasizing that such milestones are the result of collective efforts. Why Mohanlal for the 100th Film?
In a prior interview, Priyadarshan elaborated on his choice of Mohanlal for this landmark film, crediting the actor for inspiring him to pursue filmmaking and storytelling that shaped his career. He noted their long-standing relationship, stating, “He has so many options, but we mutually did well for each other. So, for my 100th film, I cannot think of anybody else because he said one thing: if it ever happens, it will be a record. The first film was with him, the 100th will be too.”
Collaborations Between Priyadarshan and Mohanlal
The duo has a rich history of successful collaborations in Malayalam cinema, having worked together on numerous hits including Boeing Boeing (1985), Chithram (1988), Akkare Akkare Akkare (1990), and Killukam (1991). Their most recent collaboration was in Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham, released in 2021, which also featured Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, and Suniel Shetty.
