The team behind Cocktail 2 has unveiled the song 'Mashooqa', featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, showcasing their vibrant chemistry. Following the release, social media users pointed out similarities between this track and the 1993 Italian song Se So Arrubate A Nonna by Bibi and Coco, which is part of their album Le Origini Vol. 2. In light of these accusations, composer Pritam has addressed the plagiarism claims.

Pritam took to his Instagram stories to express his thoughts, stating, "Every single one of my song releases attracts a group of self-proclaimed music detectives who have invented a new genre called ‘imaginary similarities’. The same individuals keep pushing the same ‘inspired by’ narrative." He humorously referred to those making the allegations as his 'unpaid PR Team' and concluded with 'Not Nice.'

The song 'Mashooqa' features lyrics by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and is performed by Raghav Chaitanya, Mahmood, and Ruaa Kayy. In a previous interview with Zoom, Kriti Sanon clarified that Cocktail 2 is not a direct sequel to the 2012 film Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. She noted that while comparisons are inevitable, the sequel is more of a 'vibe franchise' with distinct characters.

Regarding her co-star Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti described her as a genuine and warm individual, stating, "No insecurity. Just goodness. I’m drawn to positive vibes, and I’ve had a wonderful time working with her."
