Ustaad Bhagat Singh Hits Theatres
The much-anticipated film Ustaad Bhagat Singh, featuring Telugu superstar and Andhra Pradesh's Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, premiered in cinemas on March 19. Despite the excitement surrounding its release, the film received mixed reviews and performed moderately at the box office. It struggled to maintain its momentum, especially with the competition from Dhurandhar 2, which also had a successful run. This action-packed spy thriller was released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Additionally, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is set to make its way to OTT platforms soon. Recently, the film's director, Harish Shankar, appeared to acknowledge the film's lukewarm reception.
Director's Response to Reception
Did Ustaad Bhagat Singh director acknowledge film's lukewarm response?
During the pre-release event for Thiruveer’s Paapam Prathap on April 11, Harish Shankar was humorously referred to as 'Papam Harish Shankar' by the event's anchor. The director initially thought this comment was a nod to the mixed reception of his latest film. However, he later realized that the anchor was simply using this phrase as part of the promotional strategy related to the film's title.
Upcoming OTT Release Details
Ustaad Bhagat Singh OTT release details
The action drama is gearing up for its OTT release, allowing viewers another opportunity to enjoy it from the comfort of their homes after its theatrical run. The film features Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, alongside Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna, with notable performances from R. Parthiban, KS Ravikumar, Nawab Shah, Rao Ramesh, and Jayaprakash in supporting roles. Harish Shankar not only directed the film but also crafted the story, co-written with Dasaradh and Ramesh Reddy. The music is by Devi Sri Prasad, while Thaman S is responsible for the background score, and cinematography and editing are handled by Ayananka Bose and Karthika Srinivas, respectively.
The narrative centers on a young boy raised by a kind-hearted teacher in tribal Andhra Pradesh, who recognizes the boy's bravery and names him Bhagat Singh, significantly influencing his worldview. The plot thickens when a threat emerges against the chief minister, who was once his mentor, coinciding with the boy's new role as a principled police officer dedicated to honesty and duty. This leads to a gripping conflict between ethics, responsibility, and power.
As for the OTT release, Ustaad Bhagat Singh will be available for streaming on Netflix starting April 16, 2026, and will be offered in various languages.
