Musician and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been accused of verbally abusing Vigyan Mane, a friend of his ex-girlfriend, cricketer Smriti Mandhana, using derogatory caste remarks. Mane lodged a police report in Sangli, which led to the authorities filing a case against Muchhal under the Atrocities Act. In response, Muchhal's attorney, Shreyansh Mithare, has dismissed the allegations as a mere publicity stunt and plans to pursue legal action against Mane.

In a statement to a media outlet, lawyer Shreyansh Mithare criticized Mane's motives, questioning why the complaint was not made immediately after the alleged incident on November 22, 2025. He pointed out that Mane had previously discussed a financial disagreement without mentioning any caste-related comments. Mithare stated, “This clearly indicates that his intentions are not genuine and that he is merely seeking publicity. We will respond to this appropriately through legal means.”
Background of the Dispute
Providing context, Mithare noted that Mane had previously claimed that Muchhal defrauded him of Rs 40 lakh. Following Mane's police complaint, Muchhal sought legal recourse through the Bombay High Court and issued a defamation notice for Rs 10 crore. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Mane continued to speak publicly about the case, prompting Muchhal's team to consider filing a contempt petition against him.

Notably, Muchhal and Mandhana were set to marry on November 23, but the wedding was called off, and they announced their breakup on December 7, with the reasons for their split remaining unclear.
