Oscars 2026: Dharmendra's Absence from Tribute Sparks Fan Disappointment
Oscars 2026 Honors Late Legends, But Dharmendra Is Overlooked
At the recent Oscars ceremony in 2026, heartfelt tributes were paid to numerous iconic figures from the film industry. However, the absence of a tribute for the celebrated Indian actor Dharmendra left many fans feeling disheartened, especially as several Hollywood stars were acknowledged during the event.
Dharmendra Not Included in 'In Memoriam'
Each year, the Oscars provide a platform to honor exceptional artists worldwide. Fans had hoped to see a tribute for the legendary Bollywood star Dharmendra, but unfortunately, he was not recognized during the ceremony. The Academy's 'In Memoriam' segment notably excluded any Bollywood artists this year.
Hollywood Stars Remembered
The 98th Oscars featured tributes to several prominent figures from Hollywood. The segment commenced with Billy Crystal paying homage to his late friend, Rob Reiner. Following this, tributes were extended to artists linked to films like This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, and Misery.
Rachel McAdams also honored Catherine O'Hara, affectionately describing her as a "force of nature," while Diane Keaton was celebrated for her unique and varied performances.
Historical Recognition of Bollywood Artists
In previous years, the Oscars have made it a point to remember Bollywood talents during their ceremonies. Notable figures such as Nitin Chandrakant Desai, Irrfan Khan, Bhanu Athaiya, Sridevi, and Shashi Kapoor have all been honored in the past. This history led many to believe that Dharmendra would also be acknowledged, making his absence from the tribute all the more disappointing for his fans.
